Welcome to Kreations with Kris

This is my blog where I can show off my scrapbooking kreations! I love to use sketches and scrapping with the supplies I already have (which is way too much!).

If you look at old posts, you may notice that I use to run a scrapbooking business out of my home. My life became just too busy and now I enjoy scrapping for myself!

Welcome

Hi everyone - this is the debut of my remodeled website! Isn't it cute! Some of you know that I am a bit of a Jimmy Buffett fan (aka - Parrothead) and I have always had a love for flamingos. I have taken those loves and put them into my business! That is why I have a flamingo in my logo!

Anyways - check out the website - there is a calendar in case you need to know when my next crop (Kris' Krop) or class is being held. Bookmark the site so you can check back often and see what is new! There are links to my past newsletters in case you delete your copy and want to reread it. For those of you that don't get it - then sign up for it on the left. You can read the past ones to see what you have missed!

I hope you all have a great weekend - perhaps I will see you next Friday night at my Krop!

Scrapbooking on a Budget
So are you trying to save money to pay off those holiday bills? Gas prices biting into your budget? Or perhaps the writer's strike is affecting your family income. The economists are admitting that we are in a recession so we are all feeling a bit of a pinch. I thought perhaps you could use a few hints on scrapbooking on a budget!
- Take time to sit down and organize your stash - seeing what you have may stop you from going out and buying stuff you don't need. Personally, I organize my stuff into themes (Christmas/Winter, Fall/Halloween, Summer, Beach/Pool, Easter/Spring, Family, Sports, Birthday - you get the idea) and then when I am scrapbooking in that theme - I pull out all I have and try to work with it.
- This may save you money on taxes - while organizing your stash - pull out all the stuff you won't ever use and find a charity to donate it to. Your child's school may be a good place.
- I have notice some scrappers use too much adhesives. If you are adhering a photo mat to a page - you only have to use a little in each corner - that will do it. Same when gluing paper down on a page - just a little in a corner and if it is a long edge - then a couple places on that long edge. You don't need to use up all your adhesive running it along all 4 edges - save your money for the fun stuff!
- Save pretty ribbons you receive from packages and other products. I save any cloth ribbons that I get on gifts or even things like bed linens. Iron out the wrinkles and wrap them around embroidery thread cards. I keep mine in a plastic case.
- Use photos for your page titles. There are 2 ways you can do this. First - if you are at a place - take a picture of the sign of where you are. You can use that photo as the title of the page. The other idea is to use scrap photos to punch/die cut your title out. For instance if you went hiking in snow then cut your title from some scrap snow pictures. I have seen this done and it looks great. You were going to throw the pictures away anways so why not try it!
- My last hint is a to scrapbooking at one of my Kris' Krops. Bring a newcomer and you both scrapbook for free! It is a cheap night out and we have a great time. Check out the dates above.
Those are my hints for this month - I will try to put a few in every issue.
Scrapbooking Weekends
For my birthday this past month, I treated myself to a weekend of scrapbooking with some friends. These weekends are always a bunch of fun and I get a ton of pages done. This time I got 56 pages done - woohoo! We stay in our jammies or sweats all weekend - eat all kinds of junk food and scrap to the wee hours of the morning. Then get up and do it again for another day. If you haven't tried this - you really should. I recommend Crop Inn (www.crop-inn.com) - they have 2 sites - one in Pine Mountain Club and the other in Palm Desert. I have only been to the Pine Mountain one - it is closer and so I have more time to scrapbook! We do the self service option. Each one of us take turns cooking a meal. So you scrapbook the whole weekend and only have to cook once! Works out great.
In Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed my newsletter this month. I try to find intersting and helpful stuff that you will enjoy. If there are any hints for an article - please let me know - I always enjoy input! I wish you the best for a productive scrapbooking month!
