Happy June and the beginning of summer! The kids are out of school soon and we have a whole big list of activities planned. It starts off with Vacation Bible School, then some day camps - horseback riding and tennis and another fun camp. I have some other activities planned this summer - the Natural History museum, the Tar pits, the William S. Hart museum, the beach, the San Fernando Valley fair (which is ironically is here in Santa Clarita), trips to the zoo - both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, and the Ventura County fair. I will of course have my camera with me - taking more pictures to scrapbook! Whatever you do this summer - I hope you enjoy it and take plenty of pictures to scrapbook!
Kris' Krops
Sorry but there will be no Kris' Krops this June. This month is a busy month for me and I just don't have an open Friday. I have come to realize that June is just as busy as the Christmas holiday season for me. Between the kids and school finishing up, my wedding anniversary, my husband's work (this is the time of employee switching - meaning going away and welcoming parties) and some vacation time - just not a moment to spare! But I will return with my crops in July!

Here is a sample of one of Make and Take kits:

Photo Backup
Just how many pictures do you have stored on your computer? If you are like me - you have a ton! Have you ever thought what would happen if your computer crashed and lost all your treasured pictures? Oh that just terrifies me! Everyone should have their pictures backed up somehow.
One is to buy an external hardrive. This is the option that I use but there are some other options.
The next option, that should appeal to everyone, is a free one! This is to backup your photos to one of the photo websites out there. A few of these are:
Shutterfly
Photobucket
Kodakgallery - this one isn't exactly free - you have to place a single order every 12 months
Just go to one of these websites and upload your photos onto the website for safe keeping.
There is another option but these have fees associated with them. But they are specifically for backing up your files (including your photos). Some of these include:
Carbonite - this link will send you to a free 30 day trial
Xdrive
Attonlinevault
So please back up your photos now!
Budget Scrapbooking
Why should you scrapbook in economically stressful times?
1. Staying in and scrapbooking is less expensive than going to the movies
2. Scrapbooking is cheaper than a therapist
3. Scrapbooking is a safe and easy hobby for the entire family to participate in
4. No one can be accused of cheating or not following the rules/instructions. ie. no bad boardgame disasters
5. It's more fun to scrap than to do laundry
6. No matter how much you do spend - it is on something that will be appreciated for generations and that is priceless!
7. Adhesive is less expensive than Movie Popcorn, lasts longer, and doesn't add pounds to your hips and thighs!!!!
I hope that gave you some giggles! But seriously folks - scrapbooking is a fairly cheap hobby and I hope you don't give it up in these economically trying times. Make it a family affair one night or invite some friends over and do a potluck and get some pages done while enjoying some good company! You can also try to use what is in your stash instead of buying.
If you do feel the urge to add something new to stash - make it something that will be useful. Below is a layout where I used a sheet of Scrapstrips by Scenic Route.

This layout was made with 2 pieces of cardstock for the background and 1 piece of the Scrapstrips (only 75 cents) and then 2 more pieces of cardstock for mats. I did use some birthday brads from my stash but you could even just stamp some images onto some cardstock. I also used some stickers from my stash for the title. So there - a quick and easy layout with little cost! There are 2 themes of Scrapstrips in stock - smile/happy go lucky/silly kid and friends - 2 themes that will work well for a lot of photos!
